Usage and Biology

The following properties distinguish this strain from the other popular lab strain, HB101:

  • lacIq: Strain overproduces the lac repressor protein, lacI.
  • lacY+: Strain deficient in lactose transport; deletion of lactose permease (M protein)


Features:

  • Hybrid of E. coli K12 and E. coli B
  • Host for pBR322 and many plasmids
  • Sigma lists the deletion Δ(gpt,proA). Check this.
  • Promega does not list F-, mcrB, or mrr
  • Streptomycin resistant
