Selectable marker inserted between EcoRI and XbaI restriction sites. The sequence inluded describes plasmid pSB1A2-b0034 (ribosome binding site part) with this cassette inserted between EcoRI and XbaI. This part facilitates the transfer of small parts during biobrick assembly. Because it is fairly large in size, EcoRI/SpeI digests of the plasmid can be readily gel purified. Because it contains a selectable marker, cloning products containing the cassette can be selected on gentamicin plates. Note that the R6K origin of replication is also present within this cassette. It will be silent in any non-pir strain (MG1655, DH10B, DH5a, MC1061, MC4100, HB101, etc.)
