Help:Single Login System
From partsregistry.org
We are modifying the Registry and iGEM software so that our web site users only need to login once per user session. The current system allows a user to have a different password on the iGEM and the Registry web sites. This is a bug not a feature. In the future, you will only have one password, so for your convenience, start using only one for the entire site.
We will be implementing the SLS in stages. Some of them will be visible to the users and others should (we hope) be unnoticed. If something goes wrong, check here for comments and if you don't find what you need, or your account stops working, send us an email. - Randy
Here are the steps
- Implement a new login page for the SLS (single login system).
- Make the software that updates user accounts and passwords faster.
- Make each web site accept either wiki or SLS logins.
- Remove password changing on the wiki login and user preferences pages - use the SLS instead
- Remove password changing from the wiki pages and use the SLS instead.
At the end of this process, we will be transferring account names to the new format being developed by OpenWetware. See OWW.
