Help:Part Features

From partsregistry.org

When can I add features to a part?

1. While adding a Part to the Registry

For a tutorial on how to do this, visit this section of the Add a Basic Biobrick Part tutorial.

2. Or through a part's "Hard Information" section

Step 1: Go to the "Hard Information" section of your part

  • Step 2: Click the "edit" tab at the top of the window to get to enter editing mode
Part:Hard Information "edit" mode
Part:Hard Information "edit" mode
  • Step 3: Under edit mode, click the "edit" button on the "sequence and features" table
  • Step 4: Now you'll be able to see a list of all of the editable features of a part

  • Step 5: You can choose to add a feature, or edit a pre-existing one...

    • Your entry into the "label" field will be what appears on the "Sequence and Features" display for your part.
    • You can choose whether your feature is in the forward or reverse direction (as in the case for backwards coding cds regions).
    • Choose the "Type" of feature from the pull-down menu (what each type means and what their display icon looks like are listed in the section below)
